1. Bhangarh

Bhangarh is the most Haunted Place in India. It is Located at the borders of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in the Alwar district of Rajasthan. It was built by Bhagwant Das for his younger son Madho Singh I.

No one is allowed to enter the fort after sunset or before sunrise. There are many local tales about the paranormal activities in the fort. It totally depends on a person whether he would believe it or not. It is said that the spirits roam in Bhangarh fort at night and various strange noises are heard. Also as it is said, anyone who enters the fort at night would not be able to return in the morning.

History

According to common folklore, the ascetic (Guru Balu Nath) made the king (King Madho Singh) swear that the fort shadows would not touch his area of meditation. But the king failed to keep up to his promise. As soon as the shadows touched his spot, Guru Balu Nath cursed the village to remain roofless. Even if a roof is built today, it collapses soon after.

Another story is about tantrik Singhia, who fell in love with Princess Ratnavati. He tried to use magic to win over her, but the princess got to know of his evil plans and ordered to get him killed. Before the tantrik died, he too, cursed the residents of the fort to die and the village dwellers to remain roofless forever.

Things to Do at Bhangarh

• As soon as you enter through the main gate of the ruined fort city, also known as Bhoot Bangla, it gives a chill down your spine.
• Within the fort, there are temples, palaces, and Havelis. Apart from that, there are also four more gates for the entry to the fort: the Lahori Gate, the Ajmeri Gate, the Phulbari Gate and the Delhi Gate.

3. Abhaneri (Chand Baori)

Abhaneri is a village in the Dausa district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Abhaneri is originally named as Abha Nagri that means City of Brightness. It was built by King Raja Chand of Gurjar Kingdom in 9TH century. It is popular for Chand Baori and Harshat Mata Temple. It is a legend that Goddess Harshat Mata shower brightness all over the village, so it is named Abha Nagri which is probably mispronounced as Abhaneri.

The major attraction of Abhaneri is the Chand Baori. The massive stepwell built to conserve rainwater is 20 m deep with 13 levels, is considered deepest and largest stepwell in India. Marvelous carvings on the steps make it to be an excellent piece of architecture. The stepwell stands as an amazing display of ancient engineering. The geometric step pattern gives fascinating and surprising experience to the tourists.

The best time to visit Abhaneri is in the months of September to March.
